Our rooms – YMCA Mansion House Preschool, Corsham

The Daisies are based in the conservatory, they have their own entrance and garden. Our two regular staff members greet the children every morning providing continuity and a familiar face for the children. The room can take a small, friendly group of up to 8 children.

Debbie is the Lead Practitioner and leads exciting, creative play-based activities for the children to enjoy. The children enjoy learning to socialise and explore their indoor and outdoor environments through planned opportunities which stimulate their interests and encourage them to become independent learners. Children and parents have induction sessions where parents can settle their child into preschool life. The staff are happy for parent to stay if this makes a smooth transition into preschool sessions.

The children have their own outside area for free flow play and lots of adventures.

The Sunflowers are based in the main play area which has two rooms and is light, airy and well laid out Practitioners welcome all children as individuals and all staff work closely with parents to foster close relationships and share the development of their children.

There is a large well planned garden and children have free flow to this space. They enjoy spending much of their time outside.

Parents and children have induction sessions where they get to know their key person, children have their pictures taken for their coat hook and these are used to identify their own drawer in which they place their wonderful creations for the day. Staff plan exciting activities which reflect the children’s interests and development stages, making maximum use of both inside and outside spaces.
We use In the Moment Planning as we find that children learn best when they are exploring and experimenting while developing their own ideas.
