We are keen to attract local people to work within out YMCA.
Areas of work that you may be able to help with include:
Sports, exercise and fitness classes
Hospitality ( catering, cleaning and reception roles)
Fundraising and publicity
Administration and finance
Becoming a board/committee member
Please note that our volunteers who work with children and with vulnerable adults have to undertake a full DBS check and costs will be met by the YMCA.
Volunteer Host Families
We believe that every young person should have a safe place to stay.
Nightstop provides a safe, supportive bed for the night in the home of a host volunteer. Here, a young person in need of emergency accommodation will get a room of their own, an evening meal, breakfast, access to wash facilities and a friendly host.
Our staff assist the young person as they explore their housing options or support them to return to the family home. A young person can stay for 1 to 7 nights giving themselves and partner agencies the opportunity to look for appropriate housing.
Can you help?
To be able to offer this invaluable service to young people we need hosts. Hosts receive reimbursement for their expenses. You can host once or twice a week or month it is dependent on your availability. If you can offer a room to a young person and are interested in becoming a host please firstname.lastname@example.org or 01225 325912 for an information pack or informal chat.
