YMCA Brunel Group and Bath Rugby Foundation Empower Young People Together

At the YMCA Brunel Group, we are committed to creating opportunities that enable young people to thrive.

Our recent partnership with the Bath Rugby Foundation exemplifies this mission. Together, through our Bath Housing programs and the Foundation’s ADVANTAGE course, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of young people in our community.

The Bath Rugby Foundation has long been dedicated to transforming the lives of young people, especially those facing challenges. Similarly, our Bath Housing team works tirelessly to support young individuals aged 16-25 in B&NES who are at risk of homelessness. Our collaboration is rooted in a shared goal: to provide the support and resources necessary for these young people to build brighter futures.

During a recent visit to The Hub, our team (Sarah and Sam) engaged with members of the Bath Rugby Foundation’s ADVANTAGE program. This interaction focused on discussing future employment opportunities, offering guidance on navigating the job market, and exploring potential career paths. The impact of these conversations was immediate and profound. As one ADVANTAGE member, Ash, remarked, “It was a really helpful session for me to hear about potential future job opportunities.”

This visit reflects the broader work we do in Bath (any beyond in other areas), where we not only address immediate needs—such as providing safe accommodation and mediation services—but also focus on long-term outcomes like employment and self-sufficiency. Whether it be through Platform for Life, Daystop, or our emergency Nightstop services, we strive to support young people towards independence with consistent services.

A few days later, we welcomed the ADVANTAGE members to the YMCA Bath Hostel, where Sam showed them around and took them down to the gym. The young people were eager to find a friendly gym where they could exercise and attend classes. Joe and James, two of our team members, welcomed the group and guided them through the process of signing up for gym memberships. The young people’s eagerness to jump straight into exercising was inspiring, and everyone could feel the positive energy.

The collaboration between YMCA Brunel Group and Bath Rugby Foundation is more than just a partnership; it’s a shared commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of young people. These partnerships are vital. By working together, we can extend our reach and amplify our impact within our community, offering young people not just a safety net, but a springboard to a better future.

As we continue to build on this partnership, we remain focused on our goal: helping young people belong, contribute, and thrive. Through ongoing collaboration and community engagement, we are committed to opening doors to new possibilities, empowering the next generation to take control of their futures with confidence and optimism.
