The power of a good walk: Grace Harris House residents enjoy nature together

Residents and staff at Grace Harris House recently took part in a two-hour evening stroll, exploring the local countryside together.

This walk, which brought together members of the community, was more than just a physical activity—it was a therapeutic experience that left a lasting impact on everyone involved.

John, a Night Accommodation & Support Worker at Grace Harris House, shared his thoughts on the experience: “It was a great community activity and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Several residents commented on how much better they felt afterward—being out in the fresh air is very therapeutic. We hope to continue weekly walks.”

The benefits of spending time in nature are well-documented, with numerous studies highlighting how fresh air and physical activity can improve mental health and overall well-being. For the residents of Grace Harris House, opportunities like these are invaluable. Many of them face significant challenges, and a simple activity like a walk in the countryside can provide a much-needed sense of peace and connection with the world around them.
