Mental Health Awareness Week

At YMCA Brunel Group, we understand the deep impact that mental health struggles can have on individuals and communities.

Whether it’s in our housing, youth work, family work or gym, we provide steady, safe support for individuals so they can share their stories, seek guidance, and find solace in knowing that they are not alone.

This Mental Health Awareness Week let’s amplify our voices and reaffirm our commitment to being there for one another.

Small Talks Make a Big Difference

It’s often said that small talks make the biggest difference, and we couldn’t agree more. Something as simple as asking a friend or colleague how they’re feeling, or lending an empathetic ear to someone in need, can have a ripple effect that extends far beyond what we can imagine. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage everyone to engage in meaningful conversations, to break down the barriers of stigma and silence, and to show compassion to those who may be struggling.

Mind – Body – Spirit

The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is Movement. Here at YMCA Brunel Group, Movement for Mental Health is something we are well versed in! Our gym in Bath serves as a cornerstone of our commitment to holistic wellbeing. Our three pillars of wellbeing are Mind, Body and Spirit. Physical activity is not just about strengthening the body; it’s also about nurturing the mind and spirit.

Our facilities in Bath provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals of all ages and fitness levels can work on their own fitness journey. Whether it’s through group fitness classes, personal training sessions, or simply a solo workout, our gym offers a space for individuals to release stress, boost their mood, and cultivate all around good vibes.

So, this Mental Health Awareness Week, why not take a step towards better mental health by incorporating movement into your routine? Whether it’s a brisk walk, a yoga class, or a session at our gym in Bath, know that every step you take is a step towards a healthier mind and body.

Resources for Mental Health and more

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, there are a range of resources available.

If you know a young person aged 10-19 who needs additional support, our youth work could be just the thing to help them gain confidence. We have 8 youth clubs and 4 young carers groups in East and South Somerset. Visit our youth club page for more details.

If you need immediate support, Samaritans is an extremely useful resource. Their 24-hour helpline is completely free.

Concerned about someone in housing need? Get in touch with your local authority or report your concerns via Streetlink to help them get where they need to be. YMCA Brunel Group residents come to us via referrals, we provide housing for all needs to those aged 16+ in Bath, East Somerset and South Somerset.

Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, depression, or any other mental health challenge, know that you are not alone, and that help is always just a phone call or email away.

It’s ok to not feel ok. Check in with yourself and with those around you, and remember that small talks can make a big difference.
