Innovative Sustainability at Christopher House

Residents of Christopher House in Yeovil have been getting extra creative with their sustainability.

We love to encourage thinking outside of the box, and these projects certainly demonstrate creative concepts!

Residents have been upcycling a range of materials, from energy drink cans to…toilets! And making some pretty cool, unique stuff with them too!

One resident collected energy drink cans and made himself a colourful side table for his bedroom. There is something so rewarding about carrying a project through from creative idea to amazing product that highlights your own individuality. When asked about the project, the resident who created the side table said “this was good therapy and a relaxing way to make a table.”

Residents also worked together to turn a decommissioned toilet into a quirky planter – with expressive gnome friends and solar panelled lights for extra flare at night.

“We had such fun working on the toilet upcycling as it was something we had never thought of before. Good conversations were had about what we could put in there and bring some colour into the garden, this meant a lot of laughs and giggles about what would be suitable!

As for the cans, imagination has gone wild and they have now asked to make an armchair, which we may do in the coming weeks.” – Julie Martin, Accommodation and Support Manager
