Glastonbury Pride Parade 2026

Arthur's House staff and residents recently took part in the Glastonbury Pride Parade for the very first time, joining the colourful procession from the High Street to Chalice Well.

For those that don’t know it, Arthur’s House is one of our two houses which supports young people aged 16-18 who are facing homelessness. The team at Arthur’s House bring so much magic and joy to their work every day. It’s these magical moments of support and encouragement that make Arthur’s House such a special, nurturing place.

The celebrations started weeks before the event, with one of our residents taking part in a creative haberdashery session to design a unique Pride outfit. Using an old wedding dress, pink fabric dye and plenty of beads, they worked alongside two talented members of staff who generously shared their sewing skills and knowledge. It was a fantastic opportunity for residents explore their creativity, learn something new and express their unique individuality that makes them special.

On the day of the parade, residents and staff excitedly got ready together, sharing laughter, conversation and drinking plenty of water in the sunshine before heading out to join the parade.

What an explosion of colour, a feast for the eyes! Staff dressed in YMCA branded T shirts, colourful clothing and pride themed face paint. They carried a YMCA Brunel Group banner during the parade, dancing to the Samba band and waving pride flags.

The goal of Arthur’s House is to provide a safe home, practical guidance and opportunities to grow in confidence and independence. Experiences like Pride help young people feel seen, valued and connected to their community, while building self-esteem, developing social skills and encouraging them to celebrate who they are.
