Yin Yoga Sundays

yin yoga and guided meditation

On the first Sunday of every month Trish hosts a special class in our YMCA Health & Wellbeing studio in Bath that includes an hour of Yin Yoga and then half an hour of guided meditation.

Yin yoga is a slower form of yoga where postures (asanas) are held for a longer period of time – normally floor based rather than standing. It incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine and meridian lines to open the flow of chi or prana in the body. It is said to restore energy levels and boost wellbeing.  The guided meditation normally involves a body scan relaxation and a guided visualisation. This is said to lower blood pressure and stress levels.  Throughout the class Trish interviews readings and poetry often related to the season, alongside a carefully curated playlist. The studio is prepared with candles and fairy lights to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere and participants have access to a range of props and blankets to ensure a nurturing experience.  The class is available in person and online via zoom (staff get this for free) and for non-members to join either online or in person it is only £10 – this also gives full access to the gym, other classes that day and the changing areas if attending in person.

Participants say that this class is their once a month treat or tonic to the stresses of everyday life. Why not give it a try? Book a session through our gym website or pop in and see a member of staff.
