For the third time YMCA Bath Hostel has become a finalist in this year’s Bath Life Awards under the category ‘Charity of the Year’ focusing on 2020. A year we will all never forget due to Covid and one where the commercial hostel in Bath was forced to close its doors. However, the hostel remained open for working with referrals from various agencies, some other longer term residents and also opened its doors for key workers. Staff worked tirelessly to ensure a safe space was maintained in lockdown, that people had food to eat and that support was on hand.
YMCA Brunel Group Chief Executive Mike Fairbeard said: “Whether the Bath hostel wins this award or not, the staff are all winners in my eyes and I cannot thank them enough for working so hard during all the lockdowns to maintain a safe and welcoming place for people to stay”.
